A 3 year long multi million pound dispute has been successfully settled after 8 days into a 12 day trial at the Commercial Court of the High Court in London. Jerome Soucek and Christopher Hayes of Edward Hayes LLP have succeeded in obtaining the beneficial settlement for their client (a former Chairman of a mining PLC) who was defending the multi million pound allegations for loss brought against him by the PLC. Andrew Clutterbuck QC, with assistance from Junior Counsel, John Meredith Hardy, succeed in rebutting the alleged loss claims in cross examination at trial of the opposition witnesses. Subsequently, settlement negotiations were entered into and the allegations for loss were effectively dropped. The client was able to then reach a settlement in respect of his counterclaim for unpaid salary and expenses from his time as Chairman of the PLC.
