Our specialist employment department advises both employers and employees in all employment related matters.
Types of non-contentious work undertaken include drafting employment contracts, staff handbooks, directors' service contracts and supporting policies for their employer clients. The department will update their clients with recent developments in Employment Law and best HR practice so as to reduce their clients' potential exposure to employment related claims. The department also drafts, negotiates and advises on compromise agreements.
Types of contentious work undertaken include representing employers and employees at the Employment Tribunal in relation to dismissals, discrimination and whistle-blowing.
As part of the Firm's Dispute Resolution Department, the Employment Department has access to purpose-built mediation facilities and has notable expertise in personal and corporate risk management.
'We endeavour to prevent disputes arising for our clients by working closely with you to identify any potential areas in your business which may give rise to a dispute. We will then seek to advise you on risk management to place you in the best possible position in the event of a dispute arising.'
The department also has an increased knowledge and understanding of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and Mediation that proves vital to clients so that they are in a position to maximize the benefits of ADR and Mediation where appropriate, whilst also being in a position to comply with any of the requirements that the Court may have in this area. Such expertise is essential in today's business environment where ADR is being used to achieve fairer settlements which can be reached in a fraction of the time involved in conventional litigation and at a greatly reduced cost.
We are sometimes able to agree a fixed fee with a client on a case by case basis. The department can discuss and advise clients further in this regard once the full particulars of the client’s case are established.
